My roots in Sudbury start back in the early part of 2010 when my family and I drove across the country from Los Angeles ending in Sudbury, Massachusetts. My husband, Malcolm and I had an SUV packed with our 4 year old daughter Alexis, 2 year old son Henry and 2 boisterous Labrador Retrievers.
We first read about Sudbury in the "Best Places to Live" issue of Boston Magazine when we were looking to move to the Boston area. Upon visiting this town and reading about our wonderful schools, it was love at first sight.
Not only did we move across the country, we left our careers behind and decided to become entrepreneurs. In December 2010, the doors of Jam Time opened in neighboring Maynard, MA. Jam Time is an indoor play and enrichment center that caters to young kids. This past December saw our small business celebrate its 10th anniversary and our family reflecting on a decade of enjoying a wonderful life in Sudbury.
Both our children attended Sunny Hill Preschool followed by Haynes Elementary School. Henry is in 7th grade at Curtis Middle School while Alexis is a freshman at Lincoln Sudbury High School.
I have been an active member of our community since we first moved to Massachusetts. Not only does my business donate and support nearly every school, daycare, family network and community fundraiser in Sudbury and our surrounding towns, but we love hosting community events for families at our business. I also teach music and movement classes to many young families in our community. Early on, I co-chaired many of our beloved festivals at our elementary schools. Oh the special memories of our Chicken Festival, Japanese Festival, Colonial Festival! I was also the Haynes PTO Secretary followed by the PTO Co-chair. I spent 2 years on the SERF Board of Directors.
My family and I love to ski, play tennis and watch football. On weekends we enjoy taking our 2 dogs, Seneca and Sequoia to the many local trails in the area. We also love to play board games. Driven by the pandemic to stay close to home, family board games have become our favorite way to spend the evenings. Some of our favorite games are Seven Wonders, Azul and Mahjong.
In my free time, I love to bake! Everything from sourdough bread to cookies and cakes and pastries. This love of baking translates well for hosting friends and family, something I think we all miss immensely!
It would be an honor to serve the community I love deeply and I ask for your vote on March 29th.
